Breast Cancer Awareness Pins
THANK YOU FOR HELPING US SUPPORT BREAST CANCER RESEARCH!
Throughout October, we had Breast Cancer Awareness pins available for a $2 donation in support of the Canadian Cancer Society!
Through these efforts, we raised a total of $80,777.95! our donation was a part of a matching campaign, meaning the total impact is $161,555.90!
The funds will be routed to Dr May Lynn Quan at University of Calgary. Dr May Lynn Quan is creating a new tool to help young women with breast cancer live fuller lives. About 5% of all cases of breast cancer happen in women under the age of 40. This group faces unique survivorship challenges that aren’t addressed by current resources, including to their physical and mental health. Dr Quan and her team are working with survivors, caregivers and healthcare professionals to adapt an online educational tool to address the needs of young women with breast cancer. The tool will equip young women with the skills, confidence and resources they need to cope with their diagnosis, navigate treatment and side effects, and manage their physical, mental and sexual well-being. The researchers will then test the new tool in a clinical trial to compare its effectiveness at reducing anxiety and depression and improving mental health relative to the current standard of care. If the tool is successful, the team is poised to implement it across the country immediately to benefit all young women facing a breast cancer diagnosis. This project will be conducted by researchers in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
